$1.
Aired: Sept 16, 2007
Information:
James
is recently returned from
Commission Junction
University and is talking with Charles who has
recently relocated to Vancouver. CJU was the
first affiliate marketer’s event James
ever attended and he has watched it grow from
a small meeting of 250 affiliate marketers to
this year’s over 800 visitors. One of
James’ motivations for going to CJU again
this year was to meet the representative of
Tire Rack to try and negotiate a better affiliate
deal for himself and his new super site. James
was also keeping an eye out for any new affiliate
program which was car related. James learned
that Tire Rack has a 6% commission rate with
an average sale of $450 and a 60 day cookie.
James met up with a lady named Natalie Van Rooyen
who has a website called
AutoAnything.com that
offers a wide range of European automotive product.
The ratio of publishers to merchants was about
50-50. James met with 10-12 handbook owners
who were at CJU. James is not worried about
sharing his ideas about the hobby car site because
of the changes in the industry have changed
the way in which people create real affiliate
marketing sites. James plans to go to the
SEMA Show
in Las Vegas as part of
the process for creating his site and collect
content and talks about his plans for the SEMA
show. James has done a few lunch time seminars
recently and talks about the seminars and what
the students were looking for – page rank.
James talks about the importance about keeping
in touch with our affiliate managers –
their job is to help the affiliates. One important
question: Do you offer a tiered commission rate?
