Ask James a specific question...
Aired: Nov 15, 2006
Information:
James and Charles talk
about how to get the most out of the handbook.
James has recently completed an online bootcamp
with owners of the handbook. The next online
bootcamp starts November 15th. James will be
at
Webmaster World's "PubCon" in Vegas on the 14th, 15th and 16th.
This is an annual meeting of webmasters and
search engine companies getting together to
talk about what is happening in the world of
search engines. The online bootcamp is basically
the process of walking people through the handbook
step by step on a very specific timetable. James
and Charles review the online bootcamp and what
James thought about how he feels about the success
of the bootcamp. Participants in the bootcamp
appreciated the interactivity of the bootcamp.
It was also a big plus that others like Mary
and Jamie Ferguson talking about their PAD experience
and Bronwyn talking about inbound links –
it wasn’t all James Martell talking about
the process. James and Charles talk about the
success of some students. Some students aren’t
aware that there are online video tutorials
accessible on the updates page. Whenever someone
reading the handbook sees the video icon in
the handbook it is an indication that there
is a video available for that subject. Staples
has set up a service that will allow owners
of the handbook to send them the handbook file
to be printed – normally this would not
be possible with such a large PDF file. James
and Charles talk about the importance of taking
each step one at a time and not jumping ahead.
The secret to doing things is to not move to
the next step until you fully complete the one
you are working on. James says that as good
as the online bootcamp is, it really isn’t
necessary to make things work if people just
follow the steps in the handbook. There are
new things on the updates page so don’t
forget to login.
