Ask James a specific question...
Aired: October 01,
2006
Information:
James and Charles talk about the
Online BootCamp and how to go about choosing
a topic for a website and how the BootCamp process
works online with the 50 online students. The
students email question to James and James records
answers to the questions and releases MP3 files
with the answer to the questions. James and
Charles talk about the importance of selecting
a niche. James talks about how to narrow down
a niche and focus just on that for creating
a page around that niche. James talks about
what he would look for to create a specific
page and how to build around the page and get
inbound links for a page. If you can rank for
one particular page you will be able to create
the effort to create more pages which will also
rank on the Internet. Students are starting
to realize that they are publishers. Develop
pages not sites – it isn’t about
building sites it is about building pages. The
students walk through doing the handbook between
sessions with James. The handbook is at the
core of the whole process. James and Charles
talk about keywords and their importance to
all searches whether for pages, MP3 or video.
The key to building successful sites is to build
optimized pages first. You can create ranking
for a page for multiple keywords if you get
back links to you using the other keywords you
would like to rank for. The anchor text of a
link will help you build page rank for keywords
that are not on the page. James and Charles
talk about choosing a template and
www.ez-WebBuilder.com.
James talks about the importance of choosing
a quality template with quality graphics.
James and Charles talk about James’ trip
to CJU in Santa Barbara at the
Fess Parker Double
Tree Resort. James feels that it is one of those
events which is a must attend for affiliate
publishers. James talked to John Artis, V.P.
of strategic operations for
ValueClick who
purchased CJ and BeFree. When it comes to
Google AdSense
versus Affiliate programs the question comes
down to do you want to pay for a percentage
of a click on an ad or a commission on a sale?
As a result of the competition with Google the
conversion rate has been increasing as the affiliate
merchants are becoming more competitive and
working more to benefit the affiliate publishers.
This was James’ fifth
CJU conference.
James talks about Robert Blackstone a college
student who James met a few years ago. He has
been prospering in the affiliate industry and
met James again this year at CJU. James suggests
that people think about putting CJU on their
list of goals for the future.
